Later in 1987, the Committee’s group of officers were supplemented by the addition of Mrs J Taylor as Secretary. A note in the Members’ Magazine stated that she was a ‘member of Staff appointed under the Constitution of the Association’. In the same edition of the magazine (in July) an article by Gerry Copsey described trips recently organised for members:
The same edition of the magazine included the news that Maurice Eley had joined the ranks of the retired – Maurice was later to contribute significantly to the organisation and running of the Retirement Club over many years. Maurice’s involvement commenced in 1988 when he replaced Ray Stanley as Treasurer and as an Area Representative. At the same time, John Cox was co-opted as Welfare Liaison Officer. A separate section of this website lists the names of colleagues whose retirement from the Bank was listed in the Members’ Magazine. Magazine No 7 (July 1988) listed the name of ‘Miss R M Harris’ and then noted that ‘Our magazine has special cause to be grateful to Rita Harris, because she has been our principal contact at Sheldon when the quarterly printing press rolled! In addition, she has been a tower of strength to our Assistant Secretary, Margaret Smith'. The creator of this website is also grateful to Rita as she preserved all the copies of the Members’ Magazines on which this History of the Association is largely based.
